Of course you would. The first house would be house 1, the second house would be house 2, and so on up to the tenth house, which would be house 10. But then when you migrated it to C, you'd have to start your array from 0. The first house would be house 0, the second house would be house 1, etc. Or, if you prefer, the zeroth house would be house 0, the first house would be house 1, etc.
Because we learn to count from 1, we tend to forget about 0 even as adults. Tell someone to count to 10, and there's practically no chance that they'll start from 0. This is a problem when you're counting the number of seconds that have passed.
Using the Mississippi method of counting seconds, if you say "1 Mississippi...2 Mississippi...3 Mississippi...4," only three seconds have passed, not four. That's because when you start counting with 1, the first second has not passed until just before you say 2. No fair getting credit for a full second just by saying 1, before hardly any time has passed.
It would make more sense to start counting from 0, though it would certainly sound weird at first. By counting "0 Mississippi...1 Mississippi...2 Mississippi...3 Mississippi...," you say each number at the time when that number of seconds has passed.
Some buildings refer to the ground floor as floor 0. Then floors above ground have positive numbers, and floors below ground have negative numbers. Simple, clean, elegant.
