"That's what his plan must have been," I agreed. "But then I have to wonder, why did Morty lock us in here? Wouldn't he have wanted his mesothelioma-fueled minions to come in and kill us? Why seal us off from them?"

"I don't think he was sealing us off to save us," Tuck said. "After all, this room isn't airtight, and the disease can still get in. I think he was sealing us off to prevent us from contacting the others."

"But what difference would it make?" I asked. "It's not like we can warn them that their lives are in danger. They already know that. And whatever information we got from Morty before he died, it's not of any use to the people out there."

"Actually, part of it is," Tuck replied.

"What do you mean?" I asked with keen interest.

"Well," Tuck said, "Morty told me something before you came in. He said that the reason he was concerned about me is because I had stumbled onto the one thing that could stop Mrityu."

I was immediately furious that I hadn't heard about this sooner. "For God's sake Tuck, you're just telling me about this now? What is it?"

Tuck shook his head. "No, we're much too late. He said that as I suspected, Mrityu came to power because of everyone's focused intentions. They all sent out strong thought vibrations about the end of the world, so that's exactly what materialized. If we had been able to reverse peoples' thoughts, gotten them to project vibrations of life instead of death, then we could have stopped Mrityu."
